HMM CEO Yoo Attends 2017 Box Club Meeting

● Amendments of the US maritime law & environmental regulation issues were discussed

Hyundai Merchant Marine announced that the President Mr. C.K.Yoo attended the 2017 International Council of Containership Operators Meeting – also known as the Box Club Meeting – held in Taipei, Taiwan.

Began with the official dinner on 12th, the Box Club meeting was held until 13th. Among the 16 member carriers, 12 major carriers including Maersk Line, MSC, and CMA-CGM have attended the meeting. This year’s discussion covered major issues such as amendments of the US maritime law and environmental regulation issues.

Mr. C.K.Yoo, after the Box Club Meeting, will visit Hyundai Merchant Marine’s South China Regional Headquarter and Taiwan subsidiary office and will return to Korea on 13th.

Meanwhile, the Box Club was established in 1992 as an association of global container carriers. The official name is International Council of Containership Operators and is commonly referred to as the Box Club, referring to the container box. Hyundai Merchant Marine has joined the council in 1994.

The Box Club’s current membership is comprised of 16 global liners including HMM, Denmark's A.P. Moller-Maersk, MSC of Switzerland, CMA-CGM of France, Taiwan-based Evergreen, China’s COSCO, Japan’s NYK, and Germany’s Hapag-Lloyd.
