NYK subsidiary launches air-sea service between China and Japan

 

NYK subsidiary Yusen Air & Sea Service (YAS) has announced the launch of an air-sea intermodal service between Japan and north China, aiming to provide Japanese companies in

China with a transport service which is faster than sea freight and cheaper than air cargo.

  The thrice-weekly service will move cargo by air from Tokyo’s Narita Airport, Nagoya’s Central Japan Airport and Osaka’s Kansai Airport to Korea’s Incheon Airport, then have it  shipped by sea to Weihai city and Yantai city in north China’s Shandong province in a two-day journey.

  The service is seven days faster in reaching Yantai and five days faster in reaching Weihai than it would be if cargo were taken by sea. The new air-sea service is also 30% cheaper than moving cargo to Yantai and 60% cheaper than getting it to Weihai by air.
