The CMA CGM Corporate Foundation awards its 2017 prize to the association SOS Children's Villages France

A Prize awarded to SOS Children's Villages France for its educational and pedagogical support

3,200 children benefited from the Foundation's help in 2017

Na?la Saad¨¦, President of the CMA CGM Corporate Foundation, presented the Foundation's 2017 Prize to the leaders of the SOS Children's Villages France Association on Thursday 7th December 2017 at a ceremony at the CMA CGM Tower in Marseille. This Prize recognizes the extraordinary work that this association carries out on a daily basis for the happiness and the emotional reconstruction of siblings.

On this occasion, Na?la Saad¨¦, President of the CMA CGM Foundation, said: "We were particularly touched and amazed by the pedagogical accompaniment work carried out by this association, which gives back to children who are greatly weakened by life, a real children¡¯s life. Growing up in a stable and warm emotional climate within an educational setting is essential for their reconstruction, development and fulfillment."

SOS Children's Villages France welcomes brothers and sisters, as part of a placement by court order, to allow them to live in a family structure around a mother, called "SOS mother", who supports them on the educational and emotional plans. A complete and dedicated team (director, educator, psychologist...) stands alongside these SOS mothers to help the children rebuild themselves, maintain links with their parents and prepare their future.

Inaugurated in 1972, the SOS Children's Village of Marseille, located in the Roy Park in the 8th arrondissement, has the largest accommodation capacity with about sixty children.

Gilles Paillard, General Manager of SOS Children's Villages France, declared: "We are sincerely touched by the trust of the Foundation and proud of this distinction, which underlines the quality and importance of our actions. The world is prettier when it is united! Nothing could be done without the generosity of our partner friends."

In 2017, the CMA CGM Corporate Foundation awarded, as part of its call for projects, 13 French and Lebanese associations working to improve the living conditions, well-being and development of sick children or victims of trauma. Since 2012, the Foundation has also been running the "Containers of Hope" operation, which enables French non-governmental organizations to deliver humanitarian material free of charge thanks to the CMA CGM Group's maritime services.

About the CMA CGM Corporate Foundation for Children

Created in 2005 and chaired by Ms Na?la SAADE, the CMA CGM Corporate Foundation is committed to help the most vulnerable children. In 12 years, it has helped about 200 projects in France and Lebanon which strive to improve the daily life of ill children, children from disadvantaged backgrounds or with disabilities.

Sensitive to humanitarian and societal issues, the CMA CGM Corporate Foundation has also been engaged since 2012 in a broad humanitarian operation called ¡°Containers of Hope¡±. This operation allows some international NGOs to ship for free their humanitarian equipment on the boats and lines of CMA CGM all over the world.
