ZIM's Containers Artist Residency charity event raises 153,000 HKD

The money from the donated artworks will go to "Room to Read"

Over 150,000 HKD were raised in an auction, held during the Container Artist Residency project art exhibition in Hong Kong. The exhibition, titled Creative Operational Solution, featured works created by artists sailing on board ZIM ships.

Over 100 ZIM customers attended the cocktail and live auction on March 6 in Hong Kong. 3 impressive art pieces were sold to the highest bidders in a very dynamic auction led by auctioneer Mr. Brian Hodgson. The sum of 153,000 HKD will be donated to "Room to Read", a leading non-profit focused on children's literacy and gender equality in education.

Rooms to Read founder, John Wood, attended the event and addressed ZIM's guest: "Room to Read was thrilled to be chosen by ZIM as the beneficiary charity for their auction. Thanks to the generosity of ZIM and their clients, Room to Read will be able to help almost 400 children to learn to read and write through our Literacy Program."

The winning auction bidders  were Mr. Ziad Korban, President of Sparx Logistics; Mr. Steven Fong, Managing Director of OEC Group; and Mr. Horace Lo, Chief Development Officer & Director of Engineering, Modern Terminals Ltd. (MTL), ZIM's terminal operators in Hong Kong and Da Chan Bay.

Container Artist Residency 01 took artists onboard ZIM's commercial cargo ships, inviting them to produce artwork while traveling along ZIM trade routes. The art exhibition, titled Creative Operational Solutions, is planned travel to New York in the coming summer.

ZIM President & CEO, Rafi Danieli said: "ZIM¡¯s corporate  values come to light in this unique project, most significantly our ongoing contribution to the communities in which we operate, and at the same time our commitment to "Cross Oceans" for our customers,  as part of our strategy. We would like to thank all the guests who participated in this inspiring event."
